Using Win 7, on a desktop.

First impression of Pro beta: Incredible waste of screen real estate. And, as with the last site overhaul: A decrease in efficiency of use for the user, instead of an increase, which is what everyone needs in the 21st century!!!

It seems the focus is for handheld devices, while completely forgetting about the desktop users. I would be surprised if the large majority of Beatport users (and the ones that buy the most music, at that) were not accessing the site from a desktop and not from handhelds. It would be nice to know the stats on this in order to focus the feedback appropriately.

Another problem is that designers focus on the "feel" or "look" of a website, instead of what really matters: EFFICIENCY OF USE FOR THE USER!!!

We need to see as many releases as possible on the screen. WE NEED TO SEE AS MUCH DATA AS POSSIBLE, WITHOUT THE NEED TO CLICK, TAP, SWIPE OR SCROLL!!!

It is also critical to remember that some of your most important customers don't have the time, or enough time, to give feedback. Often it is the small time users who give the majority of the feedback. Pointless comments like, "I love the new feel!" or "It looks great!" can give you the wrong idea of what your site needs. If someone says the text is too small, they need glasses, not larger fonts.

Some issues:

Releases' total quantity displayed is not the same in Pro vs Original. Where are the missing releases? We don't want to miss anything.

BPM no longer shown in player. When I'm progressing through the playlist and see BPM >150 I skip before the playback even starts. More data makes using Beatport more efficient, letting users spend more time PURCHASING, instead of navigating or searching!

Song genre no longer shown in player. When I'm progressing through the playlist and see "Dubstep", I skip before the playback even starts. More data makes using Beatport more efficient, letting users spend more time PURCHASING, instead of navigating or searching!

Positives:

Grey background is so much better than the eye-searing white.

Multiple tracks can quickly be deleted from playlist by fast clicking. Original version had long delay.

MOST IMPORTANT SUGGESTION:

Give us a way to track which tracks/releases have been listened to already. Sorting by "Release Date" does not work, as the order displayed for a given day changes when viewing it from one day to the next. And to make matters worse, some releases are added days later than their so-called "Release Date". How can we be sure not to miss anything and avoid wasting so much time? To be clear on this: Don't just give us greyed out listings for tracks we've heard (although that would still be an incredible improvement). We also need to be able to see what we're missing.

Bonus suggestions:

For a given track it would be nice to add "Play entire release" (that the track comes from) as another one-click operation.

And for crying out loud: Get rid of the so-called "Exclusive" tag. It doesn't mean anything and your not fooling anyone. All it does is block the album art, making it harder to recognize.

Bottom line:

We could all buy more tracks if you could just use EFFICIENCY OF USE FOR THE USER as your main priority.

Please improve your Webdesign. Switching your design and your offering is very confusing! Please bring back the music store back to the roots ... it was much more comfortable to sort the music by genere, see the top 100 charts etc... at the moment I dont find anything anymore.
If you plan to offer a streaming-service than don't switch the "normal" Beatport to a Subdomain ...
"New home. Same vision. The Beatport music store is now Beatport Pro. Visit Beatport Pro" Why are you doing this?! Gimme back "Beatport Classic" with my old design where I could easy find what I want. It's very annoying if you need a "manual" for buying music ...

In my opinion:

-The font is too bold
-There should be a nicer effect when you hover over a genre (e.g. at least a substantial colour change, rather than just the minor colour change currently)
-There should be some kind of dividing line between genres, otherwise it is a little difficult to distinguish and looks quite unprofessional. For example, maybe you could alternate between a black and dark grey background between each genre.

All of these 3 things would improve the style, feel and userbility of the site in my opinion. The same changed could also be applied to the top 10 list, which currently look a little bland.

I'm having a hard time understanding all of the moods in Beatport Pro. Have spend several hours now looking up on google, discovering the moods. Some things like 'Slippery' or 'Throathy', I have no clue of what it means even after listening to some songs.

I think it would help a lot if someone could make a movie and take 3 songs per mood and explain where the name comes from, what the synonyms are, why this particular song has this mood.

I think a lot of people should be educated on this before they go on tagging around. I really would like to do this correctly as well.
