**Updates to Genres on Beatport**
It would be nice to get all the top 40 pop tracks out of the progressive house genre.
Beatport > Genres > DJ Tools > Stems returns no Stem files but I know you sell Stem format files!
I wanted some Remix Deck sets for Traktor so checked out the DJ Tools genre only to not find any.
To find remix sets I had to go to the Native Instruments website, find remix deck content, click the 'remix set archive' then choose a remix set to be taken to a Beatport page with the set.
Clicking a link takes me to an entry https://pro.beatport.com/release/dance-of-shadows-traktor-remix-set/1078836 but in no specific searchable category.
So... I propose a section where remix sets and stems are in their proper searchable genre. I can't find anything on Beatport I want in regards to DJ tool content!!!
Please organise genres in their respective category. Ex. Cheesy electro/commercial house was littered throughout the deep house section
Lot of tracks are linked in "Hard Techno / Hardcore" genre, but aren't Hardcore, they are just "Industrial" or "Dark" techno. It would be great for real Hardcore artists and Industrial techno artists if you can separate them.
And for that, you have a blank square on "Genres" select area.
Genre - Electro Breaks is not Electro House.
Have another category besides Electro House.
Electro Breaks is not Electro House or Electro both types of genre are completely different.
When listening to new Dub Techno tracks, 70% is Deep House or Techno or even EDM!
And so many good Dub Techno tracks are classified as Deep House. It feels like no one from ur is actually listening anymore. A genre vote system for user would help to get things sorted by users themselfes. If a track got 5 votes for trance - put it out of deep house. Or something like that.
The now situation is kinda annoying because I have to listen to so many tracks which i'm not interested in.
In "Classic Beatport", a lot of tracks are distributed in wrong genre than it should be in. Just a fresh example,...
A "Dubstep" track below is in "Electro House" genre !
So how this affects to me - I'm not interested in "Electro House" genre, so i do not check that genre. Clearly it result that i miss that fresh released track while checking "Dubstep" genre which i'm only interested to check regularly.
Hope you guys got my point.
In my opinion, Hard Techno and Hardcore genres are different, yet they're classified in the same section. They even got different scenes, so would make much more sense if each of those ones gets separated.
genre categories should be revised! How come that from the top 4 "dubstep" songs, only the fourth one (at this moment robot kitty by excision) is the only true dubstep song. the other first 3 like Febreze or holla out by diplo aren't dubstep songs. they are some messed up trap songs. they should be under the name "other" or "trap".
It's very good to have different genres, but when i browse through Dubtechno for example, there is only around 25% tracks which i would relate to that genre. It's much harder to find what you really want. Perhaps a genre vote system would help?
Add Trap Music to the Categories.
lately I'm getting confused on what genre it is really what I'm hearing. Being more precise information on the track.
The psybreaks sound is quickly growing in popularity around the world amongst producers, DJs, and fans. The relatively new application of psytrance with other psychedelic and experimental sounds is now being driven by a powerful, dancefloor-friendly breakbeat.
The popularity of psybreaks is currently reflected in the Beatport Top 10 Breaks Chart as well as Breakspoll nominating various psybreaks artists this year and awarding Hedflux with Best Artist in 2011. Psybreaks labels are popping up around the globe to encourage the development of this unique style.
Instead of putting Afrojack, Dennis Koyu, David Guetta and all these artists in Progressive House, together with a billion other artists making everything but progressive house, you should create a genre called "Club House" and seperate that kind of music from stuff like Anjunadeep or Bedrock. How is it possible that Anjunadeep, Bedrock AND above mentioned artists are competing under the same genre when it sounds completely different. It sure doesn't make it easy for labels, artists or buyers to get exposure or good advice on what music they should buy. This is a problem that annoys a lot of people out there, including both buyers, artists and labels and you should seriously consider starting up a complete new genre. I've seen other stores successfully seperate these styles and you, as the leading store in electronic dance music, should be able to start a trend and actually take the step in doing it for real. It really couldn't be that hard and I'm sure you would make a lot of people happy.
With 75,515 releases under "House," shouldn't it be broken up?
Hi All – An additional update on our genres plans, stay tuned in the coming weeks, big changes are happening!
I'm not sure why you felt the need to *eliminate* genres. While one could argue that ELECTRO HOUSE got absorbed by the new categories, obviously there is disagreement. However, getting red of CHILL OUT is unjustifiable, as there is nothing else at all comparable and it is a functional as well as stylistic subgenre.
I also am bewildered by the continued absence of TRAP HOUSE. I am not a big fan, but it is such a significant and distinctive genre that overlooking it at this time is a truly confusing move, and leaving it mixed into another genre just frustrating.
Beatport please reclassify electro house as electro house. its not big room and if i have to search through an even larger amount of tracks because now my electro is mixed in with a genre i hate "bigroom". this may surprise you because you seem to think its the same thing its not. it was quite tiring to search through all the cheesy crap electro house to find tracks. now that pool of crappy tracks is even larger. it might seem simple to you guys but for me its made searching for electro tracks a lot more tiresome and ill probs just end up using itunes
Electro House IS NOT a sub-genre of Big Room. It's the other way around! Further, consolidating all Electro House into the Big Room category *completely* defeats the entire purpose of creating the new genre to start with. Plus, in the article you posted, you guys talk about "future proofing." Yeah, genres are always in flux...so why re-label TONS of Electro House that was created before Big Room was even a "thing"? When we said we wanted updates to genres, this is definitely not what we meant :( Fail. Epic fail.
The biggest problem here is the incorrect allocation of tracks to genres. You can create enough genres to please everyone, but if Beatport staff consistently fail to file these tracks correctly, then the Beatport experience will continue to be a chore. How many great songs have users missed and sales that Beatport have lost because the user did not check the hip hop section to find that electro house tune he was waiting for?
The dance genre is just a renamed Pop/Rock
A 'dance' genre? Rather generic. Seems like whoever is handling the categorization has never listened to electronic music before.
It seems like the progressive house genre has becoming the dumping ground for all producers lately hoping to cash in on their release. How many of you would agree that it seems that every 2nd to 3rd track you listen to in the Progressive "Latest Releases" results in an "What the f**k is this sh!te doing in the proggy releases section"!!!???
See you in 2020 guys...
Whoa! It's been only two years and you already started on this! What a rush! Hey, no hustle guys, you can't earn all the loyalty in the world.

Hmmm, BeatportRich removed his comment, "It has begun…" Does this mean they aren't updating the genres? Tease!
Beatport absolutely needs "Deep Techno" genre. And please separate POP from Progressive House and from Deep House.
Beatport needs: Ambient, Chillout Dreams, Downtempo Lounge, Jungle,
Liquid Dnb, Psychill, Space Dreams, Trap,
Moombahton and Trap need to be genre's! Please :)
Please add a big room chart and remove all the big room tracks from House /Prog House sections! Ummet Ozcan ,Dimitri Vegas etc are not prog house artists lol!
It's been 14 months and still nothing done? Come on guys. At least a comment about the status would be nice.
What's the point in this feedback forum if even the 'planned' features don't get done.
What happened to electro house genre which used to be "electro house" before and now is almost only big room? Beatport, you should be the expert in the music genres, I'm seriously thinking about changing platform, it's just confusing to find the tracks that used to be in electro house mostly in indie dance / nu disco now.
COMPLETELY agree.. genres like progressive house & electro have been perverted by cheesy big room house and the like for far too long now. The big room, & trap especially need their own space.
None of this matters tho if you guys cant keep the right sounds in the right labels
What about a Garage section? I swear you used to have one. Over to Juno for meeeeeee
Myself would love to see -90 dance music genre. Or at lest a own page for it.
