Instead of putting Afrojack, Dennis Koyu, David Guetta and all these artists in Progressive House, together with a billion other artists making everything but progressive house, you should create a genre called "Club House" and seperate that kind of music from stuff like Anjunadeep or Bedrock. How is it possible that Anjunadeep, Bedrock AND above mentioned artists are competing under the same genre when it sounds completely different. It sure doesn't make it easy for labels, artists or buyers to get exposure or good advice on what music they should buy. This is a problem that annoys a lot of people out there, including both buyers, artists and labels and you should seriously consider starting up a complete new genre. I've seen other stores successfully seperate these styles and you, as the leading store in electronic dance music, should be able to start a trend and actually take the step in doing it for real. It really couldn't be that hard and I'm sure you would make a lot of people happy.

Have suggested this in the past direct Customer Service but it was somewhat brushed off. Beatport customers are investing 100s, 1000s, if not tens of thousands of dollars over time into this service and discount vouchers are only offered at a minimum nor is there any kind of consistant rewards system in place. If it was possible, would love to see a system that rewards regular customers in some way or another, rather than the general 20% off (with a strict time limit on the voucher) emailed out every few months or more.
Perhaps some kind of points system or something similar? Along the lines of Airlines 'miles' systems?

When I'm on an artist/label's page I can't tell if I am already following them or not. I checked it out and the follow button looks exactly the same for artists I'm sure I'm not following and artists I'm sure I am following. Can you have the follow button change to "following" to make things easier? Also, while listening to the player, I feel like the drop down menu with the follow options should change to either already have a check next to the artists/labels you are already following or say you're following those that you are or only have un-followed artists/labels on there at all. I feel like I keep adding the same stuff to my follow list all the time and I suppose it doesn't make that much of a difference but I just wish it was all a bit cleaner

The main genres are fine and I think the biggest complaint I hear from a lot of users and friends is that Beatport has become more like a walmart for dance music. Because there is no "sub-genre" page or way to get deeper into dance music you are stuck at the top of the main genre page showing top 10 downloads. So you are always seeing just the most popular. It makes it very hard to dig down in and spread the exposure more evenly. I think what is needed is A) More Sub-Genre options for Labels to choose from that are accurate (ie. Under House, - Electro House, Funky House, Tribal House, Disco House, Acid House etc..) And for each subgenre there should be a menu jumo from the main genre page or even main nav. Secondly we need a top 10-100 downloads per sub genre so users can filter through that quickly. That would improve djs use of the site immensely

With tracks expanding to 12 minutes, sometimes more, and especially for DJ mixes and progressive style tracks in which a couple of minutes does not tell enough of the story, or when someone is looking for a track that needs the highs or lows in a way that matches that "wonderful track I absolutely want to play"... and the label chose another part of the track for preview.

It's fine that the publisher decides which segment is best to initially preview, but it would be great if I can easily preview other parts too, and even better yet that the chosen segment remains stored if not for every time the track is played by each user, at least if it's kept in the cart or hold bin, where the more you know about a track the more comfortable you'll feel spending money on it.

I understand that being able to play the whole track for preview would turn Beatport into a radio station.

The idea is just to be able to easily listen to whatever parts of the track I feel I need to decide on it.

As a matter of fact, when I get across a track for which the current preview does not tell me enough and I feel I would be able to decide if only I could listen to the next minute, or the previous one, a security system is getting in the way of a purchase because of the frustration it can (sometimes) cause, besides the slight impression of being treated as a potential thief.
Now, such a change has many implications regarding data processing and streaming, resources, etc , it's not just a nice ui feature, and maybe that degree of uncertainty might even make more sells, who knows. To me at least, the more freedom and trust I am given to buy something that is basically emotional, the better.
